Aluminium Benefits
The use of aluminium is standard across the entire Sapa range of products. Around 8% of the Earth’s crust consists of aluminium in the form of different minerals. So aluminium is one of the few metals for which the availability of raw materials is literally unlimited.
Aluminium - the properties
Material properties such as light weight combined with high strength and resistance to corrosion contribute to low environmental loading. After iron, aluminium is now the second most widely used metal in the world. This is because aluminium has a unique combination of attractive properties:Low weight
High strength
Superior malleability
Easy machining
Excellent corrosion resistance
Easy to mill, drill, cut, punch, bend, weld, bond, tape...

Aluminium Recycling
100% Recyclable
The aluminium lighting columns of Hydro Pole Products are 100% recyclable
Our lighting columns are made of at least 95% recycled aluminium. Environmental friendliness is also an important condition in the development of column accessories. An example is the LDPE protector, which is made of 100% recycled material and is fully recyclable. The root section protector can easily be separated from the column.
Why a lighting column from Hydro Pole Products?
The strongest option: - The patented reinforcement profile
The most beautiful solution: - Invisible joint
The optimum protection: - PP protector
Double protection against vandalism: - Double door lock
High Residual Value
When aluminium columns are replaced (e.g. at the end of their useful life), they can be returned to Sapa Pole Products. In recent years, the scrap value of clean aluminium has fluctuated between Euro 0,79/GBP 0,59 and Euro 1,70/GBP 1,27 per kilogram, which represents 7-15% of the purchase value, depending on the column weight and the current scrap price. The scrap value fluctuates and depends on such factors as the price of aluminium on the world market. Besides is the material 100% recyclable, whereby a lighting column can be melted into a new lighting column, the so called Cradle to Cradle principle!
Features
Lightweight
The specific weight of aluminium is approximately 33% of that of steel. The typical weight of a column with a column height of 6 meters is approximately 20 kilograms. Light weight is an advantage as less kilos of metal are needed then in case of a steel column. This is an important thing to think of when durability and environmental friendliness are important factors in buying columns
Long Lifespan
The lifespan of an aluminium column is very long, especially if the root section is effectively preserved and the column is installed with care. The corrosion protection tape Hydro Pole Products applies, protects the ground portion of the column. The tape is extensively tested by TNO (a Dutch independent research organization) to make sure that the protection around the ground portion meets the European norms for lighting columns, the EN 40-6. Optimal protection can be obtained by means of our ground level protector. A lifespan of a traditional lighting column of more than 50 years are no exception. The aluminium lighting columns supplied by Hydro Pole Products satisfy all relevant norms, such as EN40-3-3.
